Ikaria is connected by ferry to the Greek mainland (Piraeus and Kavala), the Dodecanese and the Cyclades. The most popular way to reach Ikaria is from Piraeus port (Athens). Ikaria has two ports: Agios Kirikos (the island's capital) in the southwest and Evdilos on the north side of the island.

Ikaria is one of the most beautiful islands of the northeastern Aegean. The characteristic of Ikaria is that time on the island seems to have stopped. Ikaria is renowned as "The island of longevity" and this has a statistical backup.
