Having grown very fast, the company managed to establish itself in the public's preference, and the award came in 2018 with the "Best Passenger Company Award".
Sea Jet ships connect the ports of Piraeus, Lavrio and Rafina with Cycladic islands, the northern Aegean and Crete. The itineraries are increased during the summer tourist season where the needs are much more.
WARNING to those who are considering taking this ferry. You have to wait in an crazy area of thousands for different ferries. No signage. You wander looking and trying to figure out what gate for your boat. Long ticket line that you need even if you have proof of purchase.
It is NOT a LUXURY Boat Ride so there is no need for you to purchase the PLATINUM OPTION. It is a money-making SCAM OPTION. There is nothing that separates PLATINUM from COACH. This is a no-frills get from Point A to Point B Ferry. Period. So to prepare you for what it is, here are the specifics- It is a 'cattle' ride and you are the cattle. 'Military-like' employees force you/yell at you/rush you onto the ferry-10min open and shut. You scurry up the ramp and poorly organized system. No system. Nobody knew where to put bags. You just had to pick a pile. No signage. Nothing. Major confusion. 1000 people traveling-piling thousands of bags on one another. You have to ask others and make some assumptions. Plus no Air conditioning so you are drenched with sweat while lugging bags around to figure things out. No baggage assistance or handling. It is a do-it-yourself ride from start to finish. Once you place your bags, everyone that boarded from Mykonos-literally 1000 people are forced up two stairways like cattle. Then you have to make assumptions on where you go after you get to the main level. Once you figure out there is another level for the luxury ticketed passenger, you climb to the top floor. We sat in the luxury or first class section which is a joke. Yes, the seats recline- the only plus. There was no AC in the section as well so we ended up sitting and standing by the cafeteria to get AC. It was roughly a two hour trip to Santorini. We spent 50% of our time standing or in other areas of the boat because of the AC issue. There were two other island stops before Santorini but because we were concerned that our baggage was going to be stolen. We had valuables and purchases that we made in Paris- all Rimowa suitcases so they stood out. I had to rush down and watch our bags in the heaps of randomly piled luggage-ensuring they would not be taken. Literally, anybody can take anything they want as they exit. No system...just 'dog-pile'...at your own risk mentality. Many people on the boat had their massive suitcases in the seats with them because they had the same concerns. We had too many heavy bags-6..no elevator. just stairs. I had to go down to the non-AC baggage area twice to watch our bags. With the two stops, new passengers came aboard as some exited. Just as confused-layering their bags on top of the other piles. The workers on the boat were not very friendly either. Just sad, cold people. We were relieved when our stop- Santorini was called. Like cattle when we arrived, we were cattle trying to get out. It took us almost 15 minutes to get down to our bags down the stairwell and then waited for the gate/ramp to open. We all rushed out with our heavy bags like cattle with their military people telling everyone to hurry up and get off the boat. We paid $657.42 for this luxury ferry ride.
Cheaper to fly from island to island. This two hour ferry ride is only 30 to 40 minutes by plane-maximum.
Again, this is a COACH ferry ride getting from Point A to Point B. That is it and nothing more. Would we ever take this again? Hell No!!!
As a wheelchair user I was scared of using such a small ferry. But luckily everything was fairly easy, even if a bit chaotic due to it being August which is traditionally the busiest time of the year on the Greek islands. A member of the ferry company's staff was very attendant to my needs and polite. All in all I would give my recommendation to this ferry company.
We suggest this company if you go on holiday to the Greek islands.
Was our first time with this ferry company travelling in August. We had used Blue Star Ferries on the way down to Naxos and then took the Seajet to go to Koufonissi. Much smaller ferry but in total only about 10 minutes late which for Greece is really very good in the summer.
Me and my family chose to travel from Naxos to Mykonos with Sea Jets company to catch our flight from there back home. Our trip was scheduled at 10:40 in the morning and the trip is around 30 minutes long. Knowing that our flight was later on, in the day, we had plenty of time to catch our flight. Due to unknown reasons, the boat was almost 3 hours late. The company had all of our contact (cell numbers, emails) info when making the rsvp, but no one informed us for the delay. The boat finally came 3 hours later with no excuse. We missed our flight and had to pay from our pocket for new tickets. The company didn't give us a refund, or even a proper explanation for the delay. If you end up booking with Sea Jets, just be sure you don't have a connecting boat or flight to catch!
*On the bright side, the crew was very polite and helpful, there were number seated seats and the boat was very clean.
